Emilio Morenatti reveals his work called ‘Domestic Violence’ which is portraits of women in Pakistan who were abused by family or intimate and end up injured or disabled.¦

In many part of this world, women have a right to expose their opinion, living well in the society and gain equality between woman and man but some women in Pakistan are quite different. Many are abused by both sexual harassment and physical assault. It is quite often that the abuse was done by their family or intimate. If they try to protect or defend themselves they shall meet the consequence, for instant, Irum Saeed was face, back and shoulders injured from acid after rejecting marriage from man. She lost the right eye and had to undergo the surgery 25 times to recover.   Bushra Shari, also injured from acid as well because she wanted to divorce.

Violence also occurs to family relationship. After dispute with a relative, Shahnaz Bibi was burnt by the acid on her face. Najaf Sultana was burnt by her father while she was sleeping because her father didn’t want another girl in family. As a result, she blind and was abandoned by her parents. Now she lives with her relative.

Domestic violence in Pakistan is just another case of women abuse. Most of abused women tend to accepted their fate and stay silent. Morenatti expected that his work should help them by showing their portrait to tell the world and to empower these women to call for their right.
