Turn drawing dream into reality, the portrait project for seriously ill children.

Children always dream and imagine things. How good it is to turn imagination into reality, especially for those who live on the verge of serious illness. Shawn Van Daele Canadian photographer has launched a project “Drawing Hope” which is an attempt to give happiness to seriously ill children and their families. He hoped that this project would also make people notice this problem and donate more organs to help them continue their lives.¦

There are several cases of children who live with serious illness while they still have to wait for their chance to recover, for instance, those who waiting for heart transparency, those who need to get through chemotherapy. The pain is not only among children but their families as well. Daele believed that changing dream into reality should help them suffer less and gain more happiness. Again, It’s not only for children but also to help decrease parents’ stress.

Daele started to contact child patient’s families and invited them to join this project ‘Drawing Hope’ to turn children’s drawing into portrait photo. He asked them to provide their drawing picture then he turned it into photo shot. His team provided location, equipment and cloths for children and sometimes parent who want to involve in the photo shot. It’s a tough job but the result ends well, they were so happy and so excited when watching their dream became reality through the portrait.

The result is quite beyond Daele’s expectation when it has found out that the organ donor rate is also increasing.
