Royal Barge Procession has a long history since Sukhothai Era. After once it was canceled from previous flood last year, now the Royal Thai government has reassigned the Royal Thai Navy to organize the royal barge procession again.¦

 

The Royal Barge Procession will depart from Wasuki Landing Place to Wat Arun Landing Place. About 2,200 personnel from various naval units will take part as oarsmen in the procession, which comprises 52 royal ceremonial barges. During the reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, spanning over 60 years, the Procession has only occurred 16 times

 

All oarsmen must practice for more than 7 months in row in order to become one of the Royal Barge Procession. Oarsmen will firstly practice on ground, individual and team. After that they will do the procession training in the river more than 8 times and 2 dress rehearsals.

 

The Royal Barge Procession Dress rehearsals will occur on 2nd and 6th of November 2012. The real procession will happen on 9th of November.
