The winners from World Press Photo Multimedia Contest 2014 was announced

World Press Photo Multimedia Contest 2014 officially announced the winners of documentary films in 3 fields, Short feature, Long feature and Interactive Documentary.¦

A total of 373 multimedia productions entered the contest: There were 254 Short Features, 56 Long Features, and 63 Interactive Documentaries. The jury took six days to judge the contest. The films were given the prize as follows;

Short feature, the 1st prize was awarded to “Staff Riding” by Marco Casino. The 2nd prize went to “Silent Night: The Kandahar Massacre” by Lela Ahmadza and the 3rd went to “Calcio Forentino” โดย David Airob and David Ramos.

Long Feature, the 1st prize was awarded to “Witnessing Gezi” by Emin Özmen from Agence Le Journal. The 2nd was given to “Hers To Lose” by Brend McDonald and Stephen Maing and the 3rd was given to Swan song by Rick Gershon and Caitlyn Greene.

Interactive Documentary, the 1st prize was awarded to “A Short History of the Highrise” by Katerina Cizek. The 2nd was given to “NASA Files; Decoded” and the 3rd went to “Hollow” by Elaine McMillion Sheldon.

The head of the jury sat Jassim Ahmad, 34, whose multimedia work includes Emmy-nominated projects “Times of Crisis”, “Bearing Witness”, and “Surviving the Tsunami”, commented on the contest:

“There is clearly no one model for success in the practice. You can work in teams large and small; with the support of a major organisation or local community. The smallest stories can speak to wider truths. The possibilities of multimedia are immense.”
