World Press Photo Multimedia Contest 2014 officially announced the winners of documentary films in 3 fields, Short feature, Long feature and Interactive Documentary.¦

A total of 373 multimedia productions entered the contest: There were 254 Short Features, 56 Long Features, and 63 Interactive Documentaries. The jury took six days to judge the contest. The films were given the prize as follows;

Short feature, the 1^st prize was awarded to “Staff Riding” by Marco Casino. The 2^nd prize went to “Silent Night: The Kandahar Massacre” by Lela Ahmadza and the 3^rd went to “Calcio Forentino” โดย David Airob and David Ramos.

Long Feature, the 1st prize was awarded to “Witnessing Gezi” by Emin Özmen from Agence Le Journal. The 2^nd was given to “Hers To Lose” by Brend McDonald and Stephen Maing and the 3^rd was given to Swan song by Rick Gershon and Caitlyn Greene.

Interactive Documentary, the 1st prize was awarded to “A Short History of the Highrise” by Katerina Cizek. The 2^nd was given to “NASA Files; Decoded” and the 3^rd went to “Hollow” by Elaine McMillion Sheldon.

The head of the jury sat Jassim Ahmad, 34, whose multimedia work includes Emmy-nominated projects “Times of Crisis”, “Bearing Witness”, and “Surviving the Tsunami”, commented on the contest:

“There is clearly no one model for success in the practice. You can work in teams large and small; with the support of a major organisation or local community. The smallest stories can speak to wider truths. The possibilities of multimedia are immense.”
