"Cobra Gold" is the code name of the largest annual military exercise in South East Asia. It began in 1982 as a bilateral exercise between the United States of America and Thailand; however, nowadays even Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and South Korea have also become parts of the scene.

The main forces from Thailand practicing in Cobra Gold are supported by the Royal Thai Army, Navy and Air Force. During the exercise, it doesn’t only emphasize on the assault and combat training, but also significantly focuses on humanitarian relief, disaster evacuation and social community programs. All of these activities lead to the main objectives of maintaining peace and sustainable security in the region, as well as nourishing the great relationship among the member countries of the Cobra Gold.
