It’s the most expensive flood in the history of Thailand, costing approximately 1,425 billion baht (World Bank) in damage. Thailand Flood 2011 had swept 815 lives of people away and 13.6 million more were affected. Two-third of the country’s area in 66 provinces out of the total 77 was declared flood disaster zone.

Among these 66 provinces, the most concerned by Thai people were Bangkok - the capital city and Ayutthaya - the former capital and today historic city where situates 5 industrial parks. They were both located along side the Chao Phraya River, which was one of the flood’s pathways.

During the flood crisis, MEAL fixed our eyes on the flood situations in Bangkok and Ayutthaya. Our photographers got themselves into the inner zones, collaborated with the evacuation teams. And now we’re here to present what had happened that lasted for 5 months since late July until December 2011 to the world’s eyes.
